Treatment Philosophy
According to the American Psychological Association, “Psychologists help people of all ages live happier, healthier, and more productive lives”. Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, my patients are able to explore thought processes and related emotions in order to help them engage with the present in a more conscious and meaningful way. My therapy sessions are designed to dissect personal issues, both past and present, and provide patients with non-judgmental and empathic support. By fostering an atmosphere of psychological and emotional safety for patients, they can better evaluate their circumstances and envision a healthy way through difficulty. It is very important to me that my patients feel respected and encouraged. I believe that my role is to really listen to my patients and help them feel understood while also giving significant amounts of feedback and interaction. My therapy approach is a mixture of being a confidante, coach, cheerleader, teacher, and accountability partner.
Clinical Services
Dr. DeBruin only provides psychological services to adults. The focus of his therapy practice centers around the following issues: depression, anxiety, stress, grief, sexual struggles, relationship issues, career enhancement, self-esteem, personal growth, and Christian spirituality. Dr. DeBruin provides therapy to patients in his office or online via Zoom or Facetime.
Rates
The fee for therapy is $200.00 per 45 minute therapy session. Dr. DeBruin is not affiliated with any insurance companies so he is considered an ‘out of network provider’. He can email you a ‘superbill’ once a month which you can send to your insurance company to show evidence that you paid for services and then secure some payment from your insurance company
Dr. DeBruin has a 48 hour cancellation policy. This means that, if a patient is unable to make it to their scheduled appointment, they must notify him via phone or text or email at least 48 hours in advance of the cancellation. If Dr. DeBruin is not notified in advance the patient will be billed $180.00 because without advanced notice he is unable to use that time for other patients. Please be sensitive that Dr. DeBruin has heard every imaginable rationale articulated for how enforcement of this policy should be altered. Payment is cash, check, Paypal (Joe DeBruin), Venmo (Joe-DeBruin) or credit/debit card on this website.
